Welcome to our wonderful world!
These are our community workshops in the old Politi factory in Stamford Hill. The building was built by the family after they started their Turkish delight company hand making in a back garden at the beginning of the last century and then grew it. We have been here for 15 years and work alongside film costumiers, shoe makers, custom print specialists, upholsterers, bookbinders, fine artists and musicians. We run it all ourselves which means that we can just afford to exist here making things with our hands. I often feel that it is one of the last bastions of independent creativity in London where there is an increasing struggle for affordable space. It is important to be a part of a community for ideas growth, inspiration, support and general camaraderie. It takes a long time to cut out, measure and make clothing piece by piece. Time costs money in London particularly where all the costs of existence are high so we are very grateful to have this space to be able to store our treasure trove of reclaimed fabrics, silks and vintage laces and to enable creative process to experiment and make ever exciting and diverse new design.
